I remember vividly my first semester in school; it usually amazes me when I hear people saying "Toor". Literally, Abuja people can't say two sentences without inserting "Toor" in them. It is the same way the Yoruba can barely say a sentence without "Abi" in it.
"Toor"/ “Abi” could mean "well"
It could mean "obviously"
It could mean "Right!"
It could mean "of course”
This my own "Toor" means "well"
Toor, life has happened. There is a kind of curve point that adulting throws us into; one moment, you have life sorted out, and then in the next, you get are in a very dusty environment and can't even see your front.
In a moment, you and some people talk every blessed day; in another moment, it is by chance you get to speak once in 5 months. Life has lifed!
I met someone from my home town recently; it was thrilling, exciting and incredibly soothing to meet someone from my source; I was so happy because of the shared identity.
Not that I hadn't met people whom I know since starting school in the north, but most of us are always from the same tribe or the same state.
Finally meeting an Ijebu Woman like me hit hard. We chatted about many million things that we had in common, how we schooled in the same environment, how expensive Abuja is compared to where we were coming from, how we find it difficult to relate to most things, and how everywhere has changed back at home.
Oh man, the conversation was warming and homely.
Our conversation made me think if I could be this extremely happy to simply have a shared identity with someone, how much joy is it that we have an identity with Christ?
Men and Babes, let your identity be rooted in Christ!
Our world is so complex today that the enemy never fails to complicate things, thereby giving us an identity that is not ours. You have a shared identity with Christ, start behaving like you do!
Romans 8:15-17: To remember Jesus symbolizes re-enacting our identity as children of God and co-heirs with Christ.
Ephesians 1:11: "It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.
And that is how we find ourselves in September already, most be God alone oo.
Welcome to September my people, listen to SURVIVE AND THRIVE for the ride.
Enjoy 🤗
Sincerely your's in this adulting game,
